Ashfield 6th Grader Wins
MTA Reading Award


MTA Reading Contest WinnerOn Friday, November 3, 2006, Ashfield School 6th grader Benjamin Stagnone, was honored at his school for winning the MTA Reading Contest and the school was presented with over $1200 in reading books for the school library.

As an added surprise, Red Sox Mascot Wally made an appearance and presented Ben with an official Red Sox cap and baseball autographed by Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek! Ben, who was sitting with his mother, father and brother was honored by the additional presence of members of the Brockton School Committee, the Brockton School Department and the honorable James Harrington, Mayor of Brockton.

BEA President Timothy Sullivan presented Ben with a $100 gift certificate to Borders to continue his love of reading. For the contest Ben read 9 books, one for each of the nine playing positions in baseball.
